With k. large attendanc,',the Rotary club held its regular meeting: yesterday at 1 p. ra. in the T. M.. C. A. wlthi the Christmas air predominating the meet ing and luncheon.; Several visitors at tended. Including Arthur JUgon, of the CpartanburK 'Rotary Cluft four mem. bers of the local ftre department and like number from the police depart ment- The luncheon was one of the best Served n some time . and the . entire meeting was highly, enjoyed by all peo ple present. ' ; Mr. Ligon made a brief talk' during Which he tendered the felicitations of bis club to the local club, wishing them a merry Christmas. Miss Rosa Warren, echo recently returned from Chicago, whore she is a student at one of the ioice schools there, sang two. numbers' during the meeting, the first one being "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" and "Mother o' Mine," the last named being sung as an encore number. A local Orchestra furnished the music, and their music and the.songi of ,MJss War ren added much to the pleasure of the ay. VV"': ' After the preliminary business had been dispensed with, the meeting was turned over to Santa -Clans, imperson ated by Dr. M. T. AdkifiS, who distrl buted various nice and-useful gifts to the .members and guests present, ' they being gifts of members of the club. Will Carr, on behalf of the Public Service Company, presented M. E. Newsome, Conner mayor of Durham, with a gift n appreciation by the company of "the valuable service rendered the com pany ;while he was mayor."
